More Info About The Amazon Relinker:

Why Not Get Referral Fees For Things You Buy Anyway? The Amazon Relinker was written by John Eklund to give you a way to create links to buy things for yourself at Amazon.com using your Associates I.D. (What's this?) without the hassle of creating an actual html page, copying the ASIN, uploading it to a web server, going to the page you created and then clicking on the link. People with an Amazon Associates I.D. often create links on their site for products that others can buy, gaining nice referral fees, but what happens when they want to buy a product at Amazon on their own and not link to it from their page? Enter the Amazon Relinker. It is a bookmarklet (What's this?) that creates a simple window for you to enter your (or any) Associates I.D. and automates the above steps for you. This process is called relinking, thus the application is called the Amazon Relinker.

The relinker can also just give you the code for you to copy and paste to your site if you're in need of a quick way to create a link to an Amazon.com page that you're on.

It's a simple process to create the shortcut to the relinker, simply click and drag the link on the main page entitled "amazon relinker" to the toolbar on your web browser (or add it to your bookmarks by right clicking or any of the various ways you can add bookmarks). It works best when it's highly prominent on your toolbar so you can more easily remember to use it. Getting a referral fee on a product you buy is the equivalent of getting a discount. You like discounts don't you?

Note for Internet Explorer users on Windows: When creating the bookmark, you may get a Security Alert that reads: "You are adding a link that may not be safe. Do you want to continue?" If so choose yes, as IE asks this of all links that you try to bookmark that include a Javascript reference (which is basically all bookmarklets). Also, if you are using the Google Toolbar version 2.0 you will need to "Allow site popups" at Amazon.com for the relinker to work correctly:

This version also addresses Associate problems with Amazon.com's two different URL structures for displaying product pages (see kottke.org post for more info).
