perfect?
01-26-05
I think the hardest part of coping with laser eye surgery and 20/20 vision is in getting used to the concept that "perfect" vision doesn't mean that you can read every thing from every distance. You kind of go into surgery without a benchmark, as I've been in glasses so long I can't remember not needing them, so you don't really remember what "perfect" vision is. I mean I always saw pretty well with glasses and contacts, but you don't really scrutinize that like you do when you have no corrective lenses in place. In reality there's really no conceivable reason to think that my post-intralasik vision would be any better than my pre-intralasik vision with glasses or contacts, but you just can't help but think that it's going to be better than that. "You mean I can't read 8 point font from 50 feet away? What a farce!"
